Chapter 11 - Common editors and commands

Song properties

In this form different settings are gathered:

This dialog box allows the definition of other intervals/temperaments than those of the equally-tempered scale.

For each of the 12 notes, you can select a relative interval in the list. Relative intervals are predefined for:

It is also possible to enter your own fractional / decimal interval for each note.

Please note that all these settings are still relative to the pitch of the instruments you use, and that they apply only to the current song.

Audio output

This form lets you modify the settings of the sound output.

Preferences are organized in 4 categories, accessible from the popup list at the top of the screen.

Auto save. When this function is enabled, the current song is saved in RAM with the name "autosave" every n minutes. You might want to use this after having experienced a crash, and before the release of the corresponding fix/update...

Restore last session saves and restores the current page when you quit and launch the application. Moreover, your song will be saved in RAM everytime you quit the application, and reopened when you launch it again. This setting will increase the loading and unloading time of the application, as well as the amount of memory it requires in RAM.

When Load samples in storage heap is enabled, samples are loaded in the storage heap and you are no longer limited to the actual amount of dynamic heap memory available. This may not work on some devices ; and editing can be slower.

The Stereo samples loading popup list allows you to select a default action when opening stereo samples (for example, you can, by default, load a mix of the left and right channels). If you prefer using the traditional dialog box asking you what to do with the stereo sample, you can select the last option, Ask....

Instrument change on select forces Bhajis loops to switch to the instrument used for the selected note or group of notes in the pattern editor.

Pattern change on select forces Bhajis loops to switch to the pattern used for the selected block in the arrange window.

Autoscroll piano-roll view automatically scrolls the piano-roll view so that at least the lowest note of the edited pattern is shown.

Fast scroll using 5-ways nav. enables the use of 4 bars increments instead of 1 when using the L/R keys in the arrange window.

Rewind to beginning of loop automatically moves the locator to the beginning of the loop when you press the Play button.

When Instrument / Sample preview is enabled, and when no song is playing, Bhajis Loops will automatically play the selected sample in the sample loader dialog.

When 4 by 4 track change in mixer is enabled, the assignement of instruments to mixer tracks will be done by groups of 4. For example, if you select instrument 5 for track 1, instruments 6, 7 and 8 will be automatically assigned to tracks 2, 3 and 4.

When Use root note in grid view is enabled, note events created in the grid view use the root note, instead of the default C3 note.

Use Bhajis Loops color theme enables the classic Green, pure-veg. color theme. Any change of this setting will require the app to be relaunched.

Show grid in arrange window shows... the grid... in the arrange window!

Animate automated controls animates the potentiometers and faders to reflect in realtime the changes of the automated parameters. Since this uses a lot of CPU power, this function is by default disabled.

Vu-meters in mixer view enables the display of 2 vu-meters in the top right corner of the mixer view. Please note that this feature uses a bit of CPU, so it is not enabled by default!

Reset tool to selection tool forces Bhajis Loops to forget the tool previously used in the pattern editor / arrange window and to always reset it to the default selection tool.

Always show toolbar forces Bhajis loops to always show the toolbar when moving from one view to another.

This dialog box displays version and registration information. In case the software is not registered, a Register button is present and opens the following dialog:

The integrated file manager

When you press the menu silk-key in the Open / Save dialog (be it open song or instrument), a few extra file management features appear:
